DIY : Spice Up Those Boring Flats!

Here I am with another DIY! I bought some plain black flats for 8 bucks. I knew instantly that I planned to spice them up with a cute bow. For this project you need:

• Flats

• Fabric or Ribbon, whatever you choose to to make your bow

• Scissors

• Needle/Thread

• Button Snaps

These shoes came with a string bow on top of them, so I just removed it.

Next, create a bow using your fabric or ribbon. Then sew a button snap to each of the shoes and bows you create.

Snap the bows on & rock them!

Are you ready for Fall?

I am so ready for the Fall! Here is the 2011 Pantone Fashion Color Report. Make sure to keep an eye out for these colors when preparing your Fall wardrobe! “Designers take a painterly approach to fall 2011 by artfully combining bright colors with staple neutrals, reminiscent of how an artist would construct a stunning work of art,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Much like a painter's masterpiece, there is a certain romance to this season's palette.”

Protective Styling 101

Ok, I have been needing a break from my hair for some time now, and I also think my hair was ready for a break from me. So, I decided that I wanted to get a sew in. I ordered curly virgin Indian hair from Indian Hair.Net and I finally got it installed today. Let me just say I am feeling myself way too much! I will post photos of my install in the next few days. Here is a photo of the hair I used! The hair is 12 inches long and it can be worn straight or curly.

Trend Watch: Seed Beaded Native American Earrings

I'll admit I'm a big Pretty Little Liars fan, I watch every episode faithfully and always make sure to pay attention to detail when it comes to the items that the characters wear. On one episode I spotted these awesome earrings that Aria was wearing and I immediately fired up google to find a pair.

I ended up finding the exact pair made by Jacquie Aiche but I found the item to be a little pricey at $100. So, being the frugal fashionista that I am I went on the hunt for a cheaper version. Luckily for me Native American accessories are trending and I was able to find a lot of pairs that I love! Here are a few:

Spiritual Clarity Beaded Native American Earrings by Tribal Impressions on Etsy - $15.50

Yellow,Red, & Turquoise Indian Style Delica Seed Beaded Chandelier Earrings on Etsy - $15.00

Seed Bead Earrings Forever 21 -$3.80

Summertime Fine [Staples, that is...]

Been a long time, shouldn't have left you without a dope beat to step to! Hey, how are you?! I know I've been gone for a minute but I'm back. I will not make any more promises concerning my blog, I'll just make an effort to try harder starting today! I have gotten a lot of questions about the products I use and I decided to make a staple list for you guys!
1. Whipped Shea Butter Mix - [Ingredients: Unrefined Raw Shea Butter, 100% Cocoa Butter, Spring Water, Castor Oil, Olive Oil, 100% Aloe Vera Gel] I use this mix as a moisturizer and under a gel for my twist & braid outs.
2. Herbal Essences Hello Hydration - I absolutely love this stuff for co-washes! Not to mention that the smell really makes me feel like the ladies from the old commercials.
3. Cantu Shea Butter Leave In - This makes my hair feeling nice and moisturized, the smell is awesome as well. After detangling my hair in sections I can add some Eco-Styler Gel for the perfect wash & go!
4. Mango & Lime Lock/Twist Gel - Let me tell you, I started using this product last week & immediately added it to my staple list. I used it for a braid out. I did about 6 braids on damp hair and the next day I had the most amazing braid out ever.
5. IC Fantasia Gel - I love to use this gel when I'm making a puff or any style in which my edges need to be "slicked" down. It keeps my hair in place without a hard hold. I've seen some folks use this gel for wash & go's but, I find that it takes a while to dry.
6. Olive Oil Replenishing Pack - I actually have to use two of these & I use them about twice a month in place of my LeKair Cholesterol Plus to deep condition.
7. Kinky Curly Knot Today - I picked this product up on a Target trip once and I have become addicted. I alternate between this and my Cantu Shea Butter leave in, depending on what style I'm trying to achieve. I originally bought it so that I could try the KimmyTube Leave-In Conditioner, that works awesome as well.
8. EVOO! [Extra Virgin Olive Oil] I have been using this product ever since I went natural. I use it to seal moisture and to take apart my braids, twists, or roller sets.
9. LeKair Cholesterol Plus - I've been using this deep conditioner ever since I can remember, even when I had relaxed hair. From time to time I'll add an egg in for extra protein. [I deep condition weekly]
10. Eco Styler Gel I use this gel to give my wash & go's a decent hold without it being to hard & "crispy".
11/12. Suave Almond & Shea Butter Shampoo/Conditioner I feel like these products go hand in hand! When I use one, I feel obligated to use the other. I shampoo my hair about once a month with weekly co-washes in between.

Ok, that's all for now if you have any questions leave a comment & I'll be sure to get back to you :)

Whippin' it up

Hey lovlies! I finally decided to try my hand at mixing my own whipped shea butter mix. I am absolutely in love with this mix, my mom even took a sample to try in her hair. She has decided to go natural, after having a relaxer since the late 70's.

For my mix I used:
• Unrefined Raw Shea Butter
• Cocoa Butter
• Vitamin E Oil
• Honey
• Aloe Vera Gel
• Olive Oil
• Vegetable Glycerin
• A few drops of Essential Oil

I'll be sure to post photos after I do twists on freshly washed hair. Let me know if you decide to try this mix! :)

Fashion Flashback : Lisa Turtle

The nineties will always hold a "fashionable place in our hearts." While I was growing up, every morning I'd watch Saved By The Bell. I would be so into the show that my mom would have to scream at me multiple times so that I wouldn't be late. Her bold accessories, eye-catching prints, and tell-it-like-it-is attitude are reasons alone to reminisce.

Is there any way possible you could deliver these bad boys to me by my birthday? I mean it's in May, you have plenty enough time.
